"Living here in the heart of the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League I can tell you we are extremely excited for the arrival of this new league. To be able to see some of the top collegiate players in the country play in a family-friendly setting with great weather in a baseball-crazy environment such as northern Colorado and southern Wyoming will surely create some serious excitement over the game of baseball.  Kurt Colicchio and Mark Knudson have put together a top notch organization that baseball in general can be proud of. Good luck both of you on your new endeavor. I know it will be a home run!"

Charlie Monfort, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club

Coach Josh Shultz continued....

This will be his second summer with the Grizzlies organization, his first as head coach.  Last summer, Schultz served as assistant coach during the team’s inaugural season.

The 2006 season will also be his second at University of the Cumberlands.  At the Cumberlands, Schultz is responsible for the outfielders and assists with hitting and recruiting.  All three starting outfielders from the 2005 season were named All Mid-South Conference following the regular season.  The outfielders combined for 14 assists on the season.

Prior to Cumberland, Schultz was assistant coach at Campbell County High School in 2004, and Pendleton County High School from 1999 thru 2003.  Schultz helped lead his teams to district titles in 2000, 2002, and 2004.  In his only season at Campbell County, the team posted an eight game improvement from the previous year. In 2003, he was on the coaching staff for the East All-Star team in the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association East-West All-Star game.  Schultz is also a veteran of several camps including multiple sessions at the University of Kentucky.

He has also been a successful summer head coach as well, coaching for the Kentucky Kings.  Schultz directed the 2003 college unlimited division team to the finals of the Southwest Ohio League tournament and, in 2004, served as head coach of the 17-under team, which participated in the USSSA World Series.

Coach Schultz earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University in 2002.  He played three years for Pendleton County High School.

“I was excited last season to bring collegiate level baseball back to Cheyenne.  This year I am excited to be returning in an expanded capacity.  The area was very good to us as a team last season and I plan to give back to those fans with an improved record this season.” – Josh Schultz
